8. NP Online Supermarket Digital Services and Direct Marketing

NP Online Supermarket operates websites, mobile apps, email services, online advertisements, and social media profiles (collectively known as "Digital Services"). We want you to be confident that your personal information is being used to offer you a better and more personalised experience.

How We Use Technology

We and our advertising and marketing partners utilise cookies, beacons, tags, pixels, and similar tracking technologies. These technologies allow us to:

  • Collect Usage and Interaction Data (see Section 3)

  • Personalise and improve your customer experience

  • Support provision of goods and services

  • Detect fraudulent activity and prevent security breaches

What These Technologies Do

Improve website and app functionality: Cookies allow us to remember your preferences, the contents of your shopping basket, and your login information when you return to our websites and apps.

Improve performance: These technologies help us understand how our websites and apps are being used, such as identifying error messages or functionality issues.

Measure marketing effectiveness: Cookies can indicate if you've seen a specific advertisement, how long since you've seen it, and whether you've opened a marketing email or purchased an advertised item. This helps us measure the effectiveness of our advertising campaigns and control how frequently you see ads.

Deliver relevant advertising: Marketing communications may be in different forms, including:

  • Email

  • SMS text messages

  • Push notifications through our apps

  • Web notifications through our websites

  • Display banners on external websites

  • Social media platforms

  • In-store promotions

Data Collection and Sharing

Technologies used in our Digital Services may collect information about your online behaviour, such as:

  • Your IP address

  • The website you arrived from

  • Information about your purchase history or shopping basket contents

  • Your browsing and interaction patterns

We may combine data collected through cookies with other data we have collected (such as your loyalty card usage and in-store purchases) to deliver online advertising that is relevant to you.

We may share a "hashed" email address and/or unique identifier along with information about which advertisement to display to our advertising partners for the purpose of displaying relevant advertisements to you on our websites and other organisations' websites.

Note: "Hashed" means applying a formula to an email address that produces an unreadable string of numbers and letters, allowing us to target advertisements without sharing your personal information in plain text.

You may also see advertisements for other organisations on our websites. These are not placed or endorsed by NP Online Supermarket.

Restricting Direct Marketing and Tracking Technologies

If you wish to limit or restrict direct marketing or the use of these technologies, you can:

Browser and Device Settings:

  • Configure your browser or device to reject and delete cookies

  • Block JavaScript

  • Disable GPS location services

  • Anonymise your usage patterns

Note: If you choose to do so, this may limit the functionality of some parts of our Digital Services. For example, you may not be able to add items to your shopping basket, proceed to checkout, or use features that require you to sign in.
